MP police sets up SIT to probe ministers remarks against Col Sofiya Qureshi

The Bhopal police in Madhya Pradesh have established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the allegations made by a state minister against Army veteran Col Sofiya Qureshi. The investigation comes after the ex-soldier filed a complaint against the minister for allegedly making sexist remarks against her on social media. The complainant, Col Qureshi, is a veteran who made history as the first woman officer to lead a all-male contingent in the Army Day parade in 2023.

According to the police, the SIT will be headed by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sumitra Jain, and the investigation will be conducted under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act.

This development follows a widespread outcry and calls for action to be taken, prompting the state government to order a probe into the matter. The issue has also caught the attention of the Central government, with several top leaders speaking out in support of Col Qureshi and asking for action to be taken against the minister.

As the investigation progresses, the outcomes and further actions will be closely monitored, especially Col Qureshi's pursuit of justice and the necessary action taken in accordance with the law.
