Cooking is a labour of love but for many people, it's also just labour. Engineered in India and recently launched in the US, Posha's clever countertop kitchen robot is impressing investors and making mealtimes a little easier for families.
"Working mothers are an inspiration for our product," says founder Raghav Gupta, who grew up in Delhi and observed his mother's exhaustion from managing work and household duties. He saw how tedious it was for her to decide what to cook, keep tabs on groceries, and prepare meals.
After four years based in Bangalore, Gupta moved to the US where he developed the idea for Posha. Now, with their smart appliances, they're refashioning the way people cook. You choose what to cook, and the machine prepares the ingredients and cooks via an app on your phone. You can even use the app to share photos of your creations with friends and family.
Recently, Posha raised an impressive $8 million in a Series A funding round, attracting influential Silicon Valley investors. With this latest round of funding, Posha plans to further develop its smart kitchen appliances and expand its 10-person team.
"Our ambition is to simplify the entire cooking process so that anyone can make delicious, healthy meals at home, anytime," says Gupta.
This is one startup story that looks set to have a happy ending for families everywhere. Let's hope they're cooking up plans for a UK launch soon too!
