They Want To Switch Jobs, But Don't Know What To Search For

You know you're in a rut when you spend more time scrolling through job sites and LinkedIn profiles of your dream companies than actually applying for them. Well, it turns out this conundrum is more common than you think.

According to a recent LinkedIn study, 67% of people want to switch jobs but don't know what to search. The study further noted that this percentage had increased significantly since the pandemic, indicating a greater desire for change and a need for more fulfilling work.

The study also pointed out that the largest cohort in this category (14%) consisted of people who wanted to change industries completely. This was followed by people looking to move to a different role (12%) within their current industry and those wanting a lateral move to a different company (11%) within the same field. The remaining participants were looking to start their own businesses (9%) or were students looking to secure a first job (3%).

This study highlights a telling trend: people are reevaluating their careers and searching for jobs that provide a stronger sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Perhaps a large number of people wanting to switch jobs isn't surprising, given the rising demands for a healthy work-life balance, flexible work, and a yearning to do something that has a deeper impact. The question is, will these aspirations outweigh the risks, or will the fear of the unknown keep them from exploring greener pastures?
