Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma's latest prediction has echoed throughout the tech industry: he predicts that because of Apple's delays in AI feature development and Gemini's Android integration, Pixel phones may start to gain more traction against iPhones.
Sharma took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the AI competition between Apple and Meta, and perhaps unintentionally, thrown his lot in with Google's Pixel phones. He believes that Apple is wrong to delay the launch of its AI features, especially its integration with Meta's failed attempt at a smart wallet, Gemini.
"Apple's AI delay on iPhone and Gemini app is a big opportunity for Android and Google to catch up. Google I/O should highlight a few breakthrough AI-powered apps and experiences," he tweeted.
The timing of Sharma's prediction is interesting, as it comes just a day before Google's annual I/O conference, and a week after Apple's disappointing announcement that it would be delaying the launch of its AI features, as well as its new AR/VR headset.
It remains to be seen whether Sharma's prediction will come true, but it seems that in the ever-changing landscape of the tech industry, any innovative integration of AI is key to gaining an edge in the market.
