India Vs South Africa Test Match Moved From Delhi To Kolkata

Cricket fans in Delhi will have to wait a bit longer to witness a Test match at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium as the Indian cricket board has moved the venue for the upcoming match against South Africa. The match, which was originally scheduled to take place in Delhi, will now be held in Kolkata. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the announcement on Monday, citing ongoing renovations at the Kotla stadium as the reason for the change of venue.

The move has resulted in a change in the sequence of venues for the forthcoming home Tests for India. The venue allocation for the India-South Africa Test series has been a topic of debate for quite some time. Earlier, there were reports that the BCCI was considering moving the second Test against the Proteas from Delhi to Birmingham, with the authorities keen to finalise the layout of the newly-constructed stadium in the national capital.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) confirmed the development on its official website, saying: "We are grateful to the BCCI for allotting us this match. We are preparing to host the match in a befitting manner."

The match, which will be the first Test at the venue since 2018, will now be played from October 10 to October 14, 2022, at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The venue change has given fans in Kolkata more time to plan and prepare for the match, which is now just a few weeks away. It has also ensured that the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium is back in the spotlight, ready to host another thrilling Test match.
