Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana Extends Its Reach to Assam’s Rural Areas

The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), a flagship scheme under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has expanded its coverage to rural areas of Assam to reach more unemployed youth. The program, which aims to provide short-term skill training to individuals, focuses on improving employability in sectors such as retail, healthcare, agriculture, and logistics.

With this expansion, rural communities in Assam will have greater access to skill development programs, offering them a pathway out of poverty and into the formal workforce. Local training centers have been established to offer a variety of courses, from basic skill development to more advanced technical training. This initiative is expected to provide much-needed skills to rural youth, who often lack access to quality education and employment opportunities.

Through PMKVY, participants will not only gain new skills but also receive placement assistance, ensuring that the training translates into actual job opportunities. At the launch event, representatives from the Ministry of Skill Development emphasized the importance of inclusive growth, stressing that no region or community should be left behind. The government’s focus on rural development through skill training marks a vital step toward reducing unemployment and improving the standard of living in Assam’s underserved regions.
