India open to new measures to promote FDI, says Minister Piyush Goyal

According to India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, the country is seeing renewed overseas investment, and the government is open to new ideas and measures to promote foreign direct investment (FDI). During an official trip to Switzerland's capital city, Goyal acknowledged that the government would adopt whatever is necessary to promote FDI in the country.

In the past year, India has seen a rebound of FDI to pre-pandemic levels. With a surge of interest and investment from large multinational companies like Intel and Microsoft, the country is becoming a more attractive target for foreign investment.

Recently, the government overhauled the foreign investment promotion board (FIPB), and diluted the foreign direct investment (FDI) policy to allow foreign investors to take up to a 49% stake in the inland vessel sector. The government's initiatives to encourage FDI are part of a broader effort to boost India's economic growth and development.

"We are open to suggestions and willing to adopt any new measure if it helps in promoting FDI in the country," Goyal said. These remarks were welcomed by business leaders and investors, reinforcing India's position as a key player in attracting foreign investment.
