Public housing for Telugu people in Telangana

(Reuters) - Telangana Revenue Minister promises quicker public housing fixes for the Telugu-speaking people of Telangana.

Telangana Minister for Revenue Taneti Vanita said Wednesday that repairs to over 100,000 houses built for the poor, known as Indiramma houses, would be completed in about seven to ten days. Speaking at a program to celebrate the commencement of renovation work in Siddipet district's Mustiya village, Vanita said the decision was intended to benefit Telugu-speaking people in the southern Indian state of Telangana particularly those living in poverty.

The Minister acknowledged that several of these homes are in severe disrepair, with collapsing walls and roofs, rendering them uninhabitable. She stated that the government intends to address this issue by repairing each home within the next seven to ten days.

This initiative is being carried out through the directions of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who has directed officials to repair all Indiramma houses and ensure that poor families live with dignity, said Ms. Vanita. She also encouraged citizens to report any problems with the houses' conditions to the appropriate authorities to ensure prompt action.

The government's swift action reflects its ongoing commitment to addressing the housing needs of those less fortunate, ensuring that all citizens have access to safe and dignified living conditions.
