Delhiites woke up to a sweeter morning as the prices of petrol and diesel were reduced by Rs 8.40 a litre and Rs 7.40 a litre respectively from 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, 11 June. This is the second consecutive day of price cuts and the third in last four days.

Not only in the national capital, but the price of petrol and diesel has also been reduced in other cities too. All state-run oil advertising companies that include Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have revised the prices of petrol and diesel across all the metros like Mumbai, Lucknow, Chennai, Kolkata, Patna, and others.

The price of petrol in Mumbai today is Rs 87.29 per litre, down from Rs 95.10 yesterday. The price of diesel is Rs 77.30 per litre, down from Rs 84.52 yesterday. In Lucknow, the price of petrol falls to Rs 89.06 per litre, while diesel is now at Rs 79.94 per litre. In Chennai, petrol is priced at Rs 88.27 per litre and diesel is priced at Rs 80.96 per litre. In Kolkata, the revised price of petrol is Rs 89.92 per litre, while diesel is Rs 82.94 per litre.

The price of petrol has been cut by Rs 9.13 a litre in Chennai and Rs 9.12 a litre in Kolkata. This is the largest reduction in petrol prices in these two cities. Among the metros, the price of diesel has been reduced the most in Mumbai, where it has been cut by Rs 9.67 per litre.

These reductions have been made possible due to the fall in the price of crude oil in the international market. The prices of petrol and diesel are expected to reduce further in the coming days as the central government is expected to announce additional relief to consumers after assembly elections in several states are over.
