BCCI Apex Council Meeting: What's On The Agenda And When Will It Be Held?

The BCCI will meet once again in a few days to address the aftermath of the controversial celebration of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which resulted in a tragic stampede that caused the deaths of 11 people.

The board is likely to discuss the possible ramifications and consequences of the incident, in which RCB fans stormed the field to celebrate their team's victory over the Punjab Kings, causing a stampede that resulted in 11 deaths and several injuries.

A BCCI functionary said the board's investigation would look at several issues, including whether security measures at the stadium were sufficient and if rules were broken, and potentially punitive action would be taken against anyone found responsible for the incident.

"There are clear guidelines. If there is a breach, it will be looked into. If everyone followed the protocols, that will also be established. You can't rule out human error or a security lapse. That will be checked and established," the functionary said.

The BCCI has already ordered an inquiry into the incident, led by Rajasthan Cricket Association CEO Kumar Sundararajan. The board is expected to hear the findings of that investigation and discuss possible follow-up actions.

The board will also address the issue of player security and the potential impact of the tragedy on the team's morale. A senior BCCI official said that the board needs to review security measures and ensure that a tragedy of such proportions is never repeated.

"It's a terrible incident that should not have happened. It's important to understand how it happened and what should be done to avoid such an incident in the future," the official said.

The BCCI has scheduled its next Apex Council meeting for May 12, and it is expected that the findings of the investigation and the consequences of the tragic celebration will be addressed then.

"The BCCI has registered condolences with the families of those who lost their loved ones, and also provided assistance to the injured who are undergoing treatment," the official said.

The board will also have to answer for its negligence in ensuring the safety of fans and players, and it remains to be seen what actions it will take to address this issue and ensure that such a tragedy never happens again.
