Ollie Robinson's magnificent T20 career-best half-century propelled Durham to a 16-run victory over a struggling Derbyshire Falcons side in the Vitality Blast. Despite a shaky start, Robinson's fluent 70 off 32 balls anchored Durham's innings, guiding them to a competitive total of 168 for 6 amidst impressive bowling spells from Allah Ghazanfar (2 for 18) and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (2 for 25) for the Falcons.
Durham, put in to bat by Derbyshire, suffered an early setback with Alex Lees falling cheaply. However, the partnership between Colin Ackermann and Robinson steadied the innings. Robinson was particularly aggressive, finding boundaries with ease, including a reverse sweep for four that brought up his fifty from just 32 deliveries. Ackermann, while providing solid support, eventually departed for 33. The Falcons briefly clawed back into the game with Ghazanfar dismissing Robinson and Hudson-Prentice accounting for Jimmy Neesham, but a late flourish from Kasey Aldridge pushed Durham past the 160-mark.
Chasing 169, Derbyshire started brightly with Caleb Jewell's aggressive 33 off 22 balls. However, momentum shifted decisively in Durham's favour following a two-wicket over from Nathan Sowter (2 for 30), which included the crucial wicket of Jewell. Despite some resistance from Wayne Madsen, who made a well-fought 37 off 31 deliveries, the Falcons' chase never truly gathered steam. Ben Raine then showcased his class, mopping up the tail with a superb spell of 3 for 21, including two wickets in the final over, to bowl out Derbyshire for 152 and secure Durham's second win of the campaign.
