Star India Spinner Replaces Rookie In England-bound Squad

India's limited-overs specialist spinner Radha Yadav has been named as Shuchi Upadhyay's replacement in the squad for the upcoming tour of England.

Indian officials confirmed that Upadhyay, who impressed during the Women's Senior One Day competition, where she finished as the leading run-scorer, would miss the tour due to a shin injury.

Radha Yadav has been brought in as a replacement, and the Committee of Administrators (CoA) ratified her inclusion on June 2, 2022. The board confirmed that Yadav will be a part of India's Women's squad for the series against England.

"Radha Yadav replaces Shuchi Upadhyay, who has been ruled out of the tour due to injury. Ms. Yadav was a replacement at the recently concluded away series against Sri Lanka Women," BCCI said in a statement.

The board also said that senior bowler Shikha Pandey, who was earlier left out of the England tour, will join the squad for the preparatory camp, which begins on June 4 in Mumbai.

Pandey will be included in the camp after being evaluated by the NCA (National Cricket Academy) for her recent fitness certification. The camp will continue until June 15, and players will report to captain Mithali Raj and head coach Ramesh Powar.

The five-match ODI series against England begins on July 11 and will be followed by a tri-nation event, also involving South Africa. The said series will be played in South Africa from September 4 to October 4 this year.
