Sports Minister Leads Celebration as Javelin Star Neeraj Chopra Wins Again

Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore led the celebrations as javelin star Neeraj Chopra claimed victory at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic on Tuesday.

India's track and field superstar Neeraj Chopra continued his golden run on Tuesday, winning the Golden Spike meet at Ostrava in the Czech Republic with a throw of 85.29m, which was way above his nearest rival and fellow Olympic champion Johannes Vetter of Germany, who threw 82.52m. Immediately after the triumph, Hockey India tweeted their congratulations, as did the Indian Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who hailed Chopra as a "true legend".

"The distance between him and the rest of the world keeps getting wider and wider," tweeted the Sports Minister, who also posted a celebratory image of Chopra giving the thumbs-up gesture with the iconic Taj Mahal in the backdrop.

"Congratulations Neeraj Chopra on becoming the Golden Spike champion. You are a true legend who has brought joy to millions. Your hard work and dedication pay off! Your fan base is certainly not limited to India, it's worldwide!"

The double Olympic champion Chopra, who became the first Indian to win a gold medal in athletics at the Olympics with his throw of 87.58m at the Tokyo Games last year, is now preparing for the World Championships in July and August. In Ostrava, he opened his account with a 81.24m throw, which was the furthest distance of the night, followed by an 83.08m attempt in the second round, which was his best throw at that point.
