England's Ben Duckett has been praised as the best all-format batter in the world after his match-winning century in the fourth innings of the first Test against India in Leeds.
The 24-year-old was drafted into the England squad for the fifth and final Ashes Test against Australia last year after a string of impressive performances in the domestic game. He scored a brilliant century in the first innings at Blundstone Arena, Hobart, helping England secure a draw and regain the Ashes.
England's assistant coach, Graham Thorpe, who has watched Duckett's career progress from the domestic game to England's Under-19s and now the senior team, said the batter was versatile and a joy to watch.
"If he wants to be the best all-format player, then he's got the opportunity now to pursue that," said Thorpe. "Because I don't think there's many around who can say they're better at all three formats."
With a promising career ahead of him, Duckett will be hoping to hold on to his spot in the Test squad and help England triumph in the ongoing series against India.
