Kerala Chief Minister (CM) Pinarayi Vijayan has called for the formation of ward-level vigilance committees to combat the growing abuse of synthetic drugs in the state. He highlighted that the abuse of such substances continues to be one of the prime reasons for the increase in crimes and the breakdown of the social life of the youth.

To create awareness about the dangers of synthetic drugs, the CM outlined the proposed initiatives such as the state-wide campaign, the establishment of a helpline for people seeking assistance in combating addiction, and the creation of rehabilitation centers in all districts.
