Jayden Seales Penalised By ICC For Breaching Code Of Conduct Against Australia

West Indies bowler, Jayden Seales has been penalised by the ICC for breaching the code of conduct on the first day of the series against Australia. The 22-year-old fast bowler was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to "conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game," after he overstepped the mark during the final session of the first day of the Test in Perth.

The incident occurred in the 81st over of Australia's first innings, when the fast bowler advanced aggressively at David Warner and bowled a high full toss that nearly struck the Australian captain. Having seen his team mate, Nkrumah Bonner, trapped lbw shortly before, it seemed that Seales, feeling frustrated, rushed his next delivery, resulting in the high full toss.

After the incident, Warner complained to the umpire, and after reviewing footage, it was deemed that Seales had violated the aforementioned article, relating to behaviour unbecoming of a player.

As a result, Seales was fined 15 percent of his match fee and received a demerit point on his disciplinary record. This was the fast bowler's first offence, so the sanction was relatively mild.

The incident shifted the focus from what was an exciting day of cricket, with Australia ending the day 365 for three, with Travis Head retiring not out on 112, and Marnus Labuschagne falling short of his century by one run, bowled by Seales for 99.

Ultimately, the ICC ruled that Seales' conduct was not acceptable and he was penalised accordingly. It's a stark reminder for players to always adhere to the spirit of the game, even when emotions are running high.
