Although parts of northwest India, like Punjab and Haryana, have been graced by the monsoon, it seems to have stalled just outside of Delhi. As of June 27, the monsoon limit passes through Sonipat, still holding off on giving Delhi its promised rains.

Predicting when this will change, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) says that the monsoon arrival may be delayed by a couple of days, occurring within the next two to three days. Let's hope they're right, and we can all enjoy those monsoon snacks and tv shows in the rain soon. Certainly, an unusual weather pattern to be prepared for.

The delay is, unfortunately, causing difficulties for locals, especially since temperatures have skyrocketed. "I have to take three cold showers a day, even at 6 am it's hot," mentioned one Delhi resident.

The monsoon is a big deal for many reasons, not least of which is the relief from the heat it brings. Let's hope the IMD is right about when it will arrive so we can all get on with our lives.
