Indian multinational Asian Paints has bought a 40% stake in ad agency White Teak Interactives, according to a regulatory filing made by the company.
This move comes after Asian Paints acquired a majority stake (55%) in White Teak Interactives Ltd in 2019, a Mumbai-based full-service creative agency that employs close to 250 people.
This could be seen as a strategic move by Asian Paints, as the paints giant looks to strengthen its digital footprint. This is a trend we are seeing amongst many traditional businesses in India, and globally.
This recent purchase gives Asian Paints the remaining 40% stake in White Teak, bringing the total ownership to 95%.
Shares of Asian Paints surged 3.01% to close at Rs 2,358.7 apiece on the BSE.
This news is a testament to Asian Paints' commitment to furthering their digital marketing and e-commerce strategy, and it will be interesting to see how this acquisition translates into action.
