Web Werks Unveils Massive ₹5,200 Crore Investment for Data Centers in Telangana

In a significant boost to Telangana's IT infrastructure, Web Werks, a subsidiary of Iron Mountain, has announced an investment of ₹5,200 crore to establish state-of-the-art data centers in the state. The announcement came during a pivotal meeting at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Telangana's Hon’ble Chief Minister, Sri Revanth Reddy, met with Mr. William Meaney, CEO of Iron Mountain, and Mr. Nikhil Rathi, CEO of Web Werks.

As part of this strategic investment, Web Werks plans to allocate ₹1,200 crore towards the development of a 10 MW networking-heavy data center in Hyderabad, a project that is already in progress. Furthermore, the company has ambitious plans to invest over ₹4,000 crore in the construction of a greenfield Hyperscale Data Center in Telangana over the coming years. This substantial investment underscores Web Werks' commitment to enhancing the digital infrastructure of the region.

Chief Minister Reddy expressed his enthusiasm about the investment, stating, “I am happy to see the inflow of highly technical IT infrastructure from data centers. Through policy changes, Telangana will become the top destination for data centers in India. Investors will benefit from renewable energy sources for their power needs, showcasing the growing trust in our new government and endorsing our business-friendly policies.”

William Meaney echoed the sentiments of the Chief Minister, emphasizing the importance of Telangana as a strategic priority for Iron Mountain. He noted that the company currently utilizes 100% renewable energy across its global data centers and looks forward to extending this commitment in India.

With this investment, Telangana is poised to become a hub for data center operations, further solidifying its position as a leader in the IT sector and attracting more investments in the future.
