'Rhythm Only Came Back After Three Years': Kuldeep Yadav's Resilience

Undergoing a knee surgery can be taxing for any professional athlete, and Kuldeep Yadav's case was no exception. The left-arm wrist spinner reflects on his challenging three years after the operation, where he struggled with fatigue and a lack of momentum in his bowling ultimately taking almost three years to get his rhythm back.

Yadav, who last played for India in February 2022, has had a disappointing few years since his breakthrough in 2017. The spinner has been plagued by consistent poor form and injuries, which has seen him lose his place in the Indian team.

The 29-year-old admits that his body lacked the agility needed to excel in the shorter formats, prompting him to undergo knee surgery in 2021. Unfortunately, the recovery process was more difficult than expected, even causing issues in performances during the few matches he played post-surgery.

"I played a few matches after surgery, but my body hadn't recovered fully and I was trying to push myself despite the fatigue. I thought it was normal to feel tired after a T20 game, but now I realize it wasn't just normal fatigue," said Yadav.

The spinner further added that he is feeling much better now and has started to see the benefits of his efforts in training.

"Now I am feeling better and my body is feeling fresh. I am getting the rhythm back and I am confident that my best bowling is yet to come," said Yadav confidently.

All aspirations are to get back into the Indian team, with the upcoming IPL being a platform to showcase his talent.
