In a significant gesture of support, the North America Kamma Sangham (NAKS) has donated ₹30 lakhs to aid relief efforts for flood victims in Andhra Pradesh. The state has been grappling with severe flooding, and the government, along with private organizations, has been working tirelessly to restore normalcy and provide much-needed assistance to the affected regions.
The NAKS, a nonprofit organization representing the Kamma community living in North America, spearheaded this fundraising initiative to contribute to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. NAKS representatives, including Uyyuru Srinivas and Kolla Ashok Babu, handed over the donation cheque to the then Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, during a ceremony held on Wednesday. The contribution was added to the state’s flood relief fund to bolster ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts.
The fundraising initiative was led by key members of NAKS, including Srinivas Uyyuru, Suresh Channamallu, Ashok Kolla, and Anil Chimmili, with support from several other prominent members of the community. The collective effort also saw contributions from Prudhvi Makkapati, Shiva Movva, Bhanuprakash Gullapalli, Bhushan Paladugu, Surendra Paladugu, and many more who extended their help to the cause. This united endeavor underscores the Kamma community’s strong commitment to aiding their homeland, despite residing overseas.
NAKS, which regularly engages in philanthropic activities, has been a key player in supporting various causes in Andhra Pradesh. Their contribution is seen as a testament to the deep ties that the NRI community maintains with their roots. The organization also expressed gratitude to all donors who participated in the initiative, reaffirming their mission of supporting the welfare of their community and the broader society, both in India and abroad.
This generous donation will play a crucial role in accelerating relief operations, helping flood victims rebuild their lives, and restoring normalcy to the flood-hit areas.
