Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has rejected Michael Vaughan's recent claim that Ben Duckett is the best all-format player in the game at the moment. In response, Chopra picked David Warner as the man who deserves that title.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, the former opener said, "I will be very happy to hear what Ben Duckett has done to be considered the best all-format player in the world. I am sure he has a lot of talent, but I don't think he has done enough to be considered for that spot."
He further added, "I would go with David Warner, even though he is struggling in red-ball cricket at the moment. But if you look at his overall performances, the value he brings in T20 cricket, the impact he has when he goes out to open for Australia, and the manner in which he has dominated all the bowlers around the world I think it has to be David Warner."
Australia's Test captain Pat Cummins recently endorsed Warner's contender for the T20 World Cup, suggesting that the DRS ball-tampering scandal of 2018 impacted the team's attitude towards Warner.
Chopra's remarks come after former England captain Vaughan praised Duckett, saying the 27-year-old is "one of the best players in the world" and "can be the best all-format player in the world" in a recent interview with the BBC.
Chopra's comments could stir up a lively debate. Whose side are you on?
