Three arrested and a hunt ongoing for others in the assault of a civic body official in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his counterpart in Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao, expressed shock at the incident. And Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has assured strict action against those responsible.
The official was inspecting a sewage outlet in the capital city when a group of people allegedly associated with a real estate company attacked him and threw him into a drain. He was discharged from the hospital after treatment for his injuries.
"I express my anger and shock at the unfortunate and unacceptable incident in which a civic body officer was assaulted in Bhubaneswar. Such an incident is not at all acceptable in a civilized society," tweeted the Odisha CM.
Patnaik's Telangana counterpart, K. Chandrashekar Rao, also expressed shock and tweeted that he had urged the Odisha government to act swiftly to identify and punish the culprits.
Three suspects, identified as Pradyumn Sahu, Munna Behera, and Bhaben Sahoo, have been arrested so far in the case. The police are searching for the remaining suspects, including the mastermind, behind the unfortunate incident.
"None of them have any authority to outrage the dignity and honour of a government officer," tweeted Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das.
