Latest LPG Cylinder Price: Commercial LPG cylinders of 19 kg now cheaper by Rs 58.50, check city-wise rates

New Delhi: Days after the Narendra Modi government announced a reduction in the excise duty on diesel and petrol, state-owned oil companies on Wednesday passed on the relief to consumers by cutting the prices of domestic LPG cylinders. The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 58.50 from July 1. With this reduction, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in metro cities will be Rs 1,002.50. This is the second reduction in the price of a commercial LPG cylinder this year. State-owned oil marketing companies include Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL).

The last reduction in the price of a commercial LPG cylinder was announced in May, when prices were lowered by Rs 50. This is also the 63rd consecutive monthly reduction in the price of domestic LPG cylinders. Earlier in June, the government had also announced a subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder, resulting in a reduction of Rs 100 in the price of a domestic LPG cylinder. Currently, a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder costs between Rs 594 and Rs 625 in metro cities, according to data available on the Indian Oil Corporation's website.

The latest reduction in the price of commercial cylinders will benefit businesses that have been battered by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and are currently trying to revive operations after months of lockdown. Businesses such as restaurants and eateries, which use commercial LPG cylinders, will be able to save on their overhead costs with this price reduction.

This move is bound to bring some relief to these businesses and help boost economic activity in the country.
