Police in Hyderabad have registered a case of abetment of suicide after an 18-year-old woman died by suicide. The victim, P Deepika, was a student at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and recently married to V Santhosh, who is 23. They have a one-year-old son.

Deepika's mother, P Sunguna, filed a complaint against Santhosh, alleging that he had been harassing her daughter. Around a month ago, Deepika moved in with her mother due to the alleged harassment.

Hyderabad Police have stated that Santhosh initially went to ITI to confront Deepika and then, on the same night, went to her house and tried to slit his neck. The police added that Santhosh tried to commit suicide due to marital issues with Deepika, but they were unable to confirm whether he was trying to kill himself because of her alleged harassment or for other reasons.

Santhosh allegedly fought with Deepika at her workplace on Wednesday afternoon, and in the evening, he went to her home. The couple fought again that evening, leading Deepika to lock herself in her room and hang herself.

Deepika was taken to the hospital by her family members, but she was declared dead by doctors.

The police will continue their investigation into the alleged harassment and the events leading up to Deepika's death.
