Police Commissioner Anand Takes Comprehensive Measures for Peaceful Moharram Procession

In a show of unity and commitment to ensuring peace, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand addressed concerns from the Shia community, promising to address them in coordination with relevant departments. Attending a meeting at Salarjung Museum, Anand chaired the session, which aimed to finalize arrangements for the upcoming Moharram events.

Anand assured attendees that the Police Department, in collaboration with all other departments, has taken proactive measures to ensure a peaceful procession. Traffic management and security plans are set to be meticulously organized.

The Commissioner also requested that the elephant slated to participate in the procession be brought two to three days prior to the event to ensure a restful and calm experience. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of setting up a safe perimeter around the elephant during the event.

Moharram, a period of commemoration for Shia Muslims, is slated to occur this year on July 6 or 7, 2025, pending confirmation via crescent moon sighting. The procession, set to begin at Bibi-ka-Alam in Dabeerpura, will proceed through several landmarks before concluding at Masjid-e-Ilahi in Chaderghat.

Anand stated that senior officials will be monitoring the event closely, with the entire route under constant CCTV surveillance from the Command Control Centre in Banjara Hills.
