Hyderabad-based Telangana State witnessed a significant reduction in cybercrime complaints and related financial losses during the first four months of 2025. Compared to the same period in 2024, the state's Telangana Cyber Security Bureau reported a 11% decrease in cyber crime complaints and a 19% decrease in the total amount lost to cyber crimes.
The bureau credited its public awareness campaigns, proactive investigations, and data-driven operations for this progress. It conducted state-wide campaigns focusing on digital arrest scams, investment frauds, and OTP-based crimes. The 1930 Chatbot and improved IVR system helped reduce reporting time from six to three minutes, ensuring faster reaction during the crucial golden hour. Massive outreach was conducted through caller tunes, posters, school and college workshops, and district training programmes.
The SHIELD 2025 cyber security conclave united law enforcement, tech platforms, and regulatory bodies to address cyber threats. Real-time collaboration with banks and service providers improved fraud detection and transaction blocking. The bureau adopted data-driven and technology-supported methods to identify cybercrime hotspots and conducted special field operations.
Advanced analytics, digital profiling, and OSINT tools were deployed to support enforcement tracking and arrest cyber criminals efficiently. Joint operation teams were formed to execute interstate PT warrants, enhancing tracking and resolution capabilities.
Shikha Goel, the director of TGCSB, said that the reduction was also due to the Bureau's efforts to streamline processes, strengthen coordination with district police, and adopt data-backed tracking, which resulted in higher case closures and quicker action against cyber criminals.
