# Eagle Eyes on Drugs

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the formation of the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), which will replace the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau, to intensify surveillance and enforcement against drug-related activities.

Speaking at a program to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Reddy warned that if even one marijuana plant is cultivated or drugs are imported into the state, EAGLE will monitor it.

Revanth Reddy has vowed to make Telangana a drug-free state and has urged the population to avoid drugs, saying that drug usage is incompatible with India's aim to become a superpower. He emphasized that states like Punjab and Haryana are already grappling with severe drug-related issues and that drug abuse is undermining India's global competitiveness.

He further stated that he had instructed officials to take severe action against drugs after assuming office, and that a drug-free Telangana parallels his aim to make the state a hub for software, biotechnology, and other technology.

Actor Ram Charan Teja expressed worry about the prevalence of drug sales near educational institutions and labeled the trafficking of drugs as organized crime.

## Conclusion

The formation of the EAGLE group marks a significant step in the Telangana government's efforts to combat drug trafficking and drug-related activities.

With this new unit, the government hopes to intensify surveillance and enforcement against drug-related cases and reinforce its commitment to making Telangana a safe and drug-free state.

The move has been welcomed by many, including prominent figures like BJP MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who sees Revanth as an icon for not consuming drugs, and Telangana Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju, who expressed hope that the Telugu film industry would follow the footsteps of the Malayalam film industry in banning drug consumers within its ranks.
