Hyderabad is quickly emerging as a top global destination for GCCs, in particular within the banking, financial services, and insurance sectors. Citizens Financial Group (CFG) has embraced this trend, partnering with Cognizant to launch a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad. The centre will enhance CFG's technology capabilities across enterprise platforms, customer experience, and data-driven innovation.

The launch of the GCC in Hyderabad was attended by Telanganas Minister for IT, Electronics, Industries, Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, Duddilla Sridhar Babu. Babu highlighted Hyderabad's commercial ecosystem, noting that the city saw commercial office space grow by 56% last year. He also remarked on the rapid growth of Hyderabad's telecommunications sector.

Cognizant, CFG's strategic technology partner, will play a critical role in establishing and scaling the centre in Hyderabad. Nageswar Cherukupalli, Senior Vice-President and Business Unit Head (BFSI) at Cognizant, acknowledged Hyderabad's growing prominence in the BFSI sector, citing the existing GCCs of several major banks.

CFG's Hyderabad GCC is envisioned as a next-generation innovation hub, vital to the company's technology modernisation journey. It's expected to provide an efficient path to digital transformation and reduce reliance on external vendor partners. By March 2026, the centre is projected to employ 1,000 IT and data & analytics professionals.
