It's time to celebrate Holi, the festival of colours, but Telangana police have issued a stern warning to revellers planning to engage in the tradition of colour-throwing amid the festivities. The Hyderabad and Cyberabad police have issued notifications prohibiting the throwing of colours or coloured water on people, vehicles or public spaces without consent.
The notification, posted on March 9, cites violations of Section 76 of the Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 Fasli, and states that the order is in effect from 6pm on March 13 to 6am on March 15 in Hyderabad, and from 6am on March 14 to 6am on March 15 in Cyberabad.
According to the directive, throwing colours or coloured water on unwilling persons, places, and vehicles or smearing unwilling people with colour on public roads and public places in Hyderabad City, causing annoyance, can result in legal action.
The police have urged residents to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions that could lead to legal consequences.
Consent is so important in the celebration of colours, love, and spring!
