The digital world has integrated so thoroughly into our lives that kids are exposed more than ever. Thus, it is vital to ensure they do not fall victim to cybercrimes.
Cyberabad police, the Children's Safety Club, and self-defense conducted an awareness program at Jaycee School in Attapur.
Rashmi Perumal, additional DCP, Rajendranagar, said that the internet offers limitless educational and recreational opportunities, but it also brings several risks, particularly cybercrimes that target vulnerable sections, namely children.
She emphasized that instances of kids falling victim to cybercrimes have been increasing and necessitate the immediate attention of parents, educators, and law enforcement.
Youths are susceptible to various threats, such as cyberbullying, online grooming, identity theft, and phishing scams with the rise of social media, online gaming, and virtual interactions.
She further asserted that parents must oversee their children's online activities as many people suffer due to a lack of understanding of the gravity of the situation.
Parents must keep an eye on suspicious apps and advise their children on vigilance regarding the menace of cybercrimes.
Ultimately, Perumal emphasized that parents must prioritize explaining the potential dangers of the digital world to their children rather than prioritizing their online activities solely for safety.
