Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand has promised a safe environment for this year's Moharram Bibi-ka-Alam procession. The event, held in honor of Imam Hussain, will be attended by thousands of Shia Muslims.
Anand has coordinated with the community and other government departments to ensure security, traffic management, and essential arrangements to prevent any inconvenience or untoward incidents.
The Commissioner has advised on adequate parking facilities and traffic diversion plans. He stressed the need for maintaining order by deploying police teams, platoons, and She Teams to prevent eve-teasing.
Also, considering the elephant that takes part in the procession, the Commissioner advised organizers to bring the elephant a few days prior and ensure a safe perimeter. A veterinarian and tranquilizer were recommended to handle any unforeseen circumstances.
The event aims to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his followers during Moharram, which is expected to fall on July 6 or 7, 2025. The procession will begin at Bibi-ka-Alam and proceed through several streets in Hyderabad.
Anand emphasized that all senior officials will oversee the procession, while it will also be monitored via CCTV cameras.
