Hyderabad City Police has deployed 3000 personnel to ensure the safe and secure passage of the Muharram procession, particularly on July 5th and 6th, when crowds swell exponentially.
Police Commissioner CV Anand emphasized that security coordination meetings had been held with ministers, Shia community leaders, police, and officials from various departments to ensure the safety of the procession.
Anand highlighted that the final two days of the procession would see a full deployment of police personnel, while smaller units were deployed for the daily, smaller processions. He also noted that they would call in additional police personnel to manage traffic throughout the weekend.
To counter potential chain snatchers, pickpockets, or eveteasers during the procession, the police have already detained some suspects and remain alert.
Anand urged the public to coordinate with police personnel to ensure safe passage for the Muharram processions.
In a warning to potential criminals, he stated that the police were proactive and would not tolerate any disturbances during the religious ceremony.
The commissioner asked the public to cooperate with officers and said that the police would ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the procession.
