Hyderabad has been on high alert since the successful Operation Sindoor that saw the destruction of enemy drones and missiles. In light of increased security, the state's Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has reviewed the security measures in Hyderabad and across the state.
The CM has directed officials to increase security around all sensitive areas, consulates, and prominent IT companies in and around Hyderabad and district centers. The review comes after an emergency meeting that involved officers from the armed forces, DGP, and other top police officers and disaster management authorities.
The CM cancels emergency services personnel leaves and has prepared hospitals and blood banks across the state. A helpline for people in need will be set up, the CM said.
"We should give a message that we are all with the country's defence forces. There is no room for politics at this time," he stated. People are advised to keep vigil but also reassured that the Centre and state are working together for their safety.
The CM has warned officials to be vigilant in terms of cyber security as well. "False information is likely to increase public anxiety. A special cell should be set up to curb misinformation," Reddy added.
"CCTV cameras should be connected to the command control room in the three commissionerates of the city. If necessary, talk to peace committees," he added.
The police department has been alerted to be on guard against habitual criminals and history sheeters.
The CM, along with the deputy chief minister, reviewed the situation again after mock drills in the city and directed the police to make special security arrangements around the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
"Adequate protection should be provided to foreign tourists visiting Telangana," Reddy said, "State intelligence teams should coordinate with central intelligence agencies," he concluded.
The CM also checked arrangements made for the supply of essential commodities.
Residents of Hyderabad are heeding the warnings, with many feeling safer than before.
