HC Orders Hoardings Warning of Illegal Constructions

Despite court orders, inaction on illegal buildings continues with authorities turning a blind eye, Telangana HC notes. The high court has suggested warning hoardings in front of illegal constructions to prevent buyers from unwittingly purchasing problematic homes.

In a recent hearing, Justice B Vijaysen Reddy expressed frustration at ongoing illegal constructions, specifically in Hyderabad. The court heard a case concerning a building constructed illegally in Maharjgunj, despite previous court orders. The justice criticised the authorities for not implementing demolition or sealing orders and ignoring court directives.

The judge urged the government to inform potential homebuyers of the legality issues and advised them to conduct their own checks on construction legality, instead of solely relying on officials. The court also instructed municipal authorities to display court orders on such hoardings.

Justice Reddy questioned the authorities' delays in implementing court orders and why they only act after public intervention. He criticised their apathy despite advancements in technology and infrastructure in the state. The judge noted that those involved in such activities are more fearful of social media than the police, government officials, or the courts.

The case will continue on July 11, with further updates.
