A man in Telangana state, India, was held for allegedly making false emergency calls to the police a total of 77 times over the past six months. The 23-year-old, identified as N Suresh, would often call the police control room in the evening, claiming to need immediate help for suicide. In other calls, he would complain that his wife was missing. She had, in fact, left him due to his alcoholism, according to a police official.
Police officials said that Suresh would use a different name and location every time he called, and when police officers arrived at the given location, he would be unreachable on his phone. Authorities managed to track Suresh's location using his mobile phone's location data, and he was arrested from his village on Friday. He was booked under sections 292 and 355 of the BNS.
