Citizens Financial Group has announced its plans to open a Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad, with the support of Cognizant. The center is intended to enhance the bank's technology capabilities in areas such as data-driven innovation, customer experience, and enterprise platforms.

The centre is expected to digitise Citizens Financial Group's operations and increase efficiency, reducing the bank's reliance on external vendors. Hyderabad's growing reputation as a hub for banking, financial services, and insurance sectors (BFSI) in Gulf countries was cited as the reason for the centre's location.

Cognizant will assist in establishing and scaling the centre. Senior Vice-President and Business Unit Head (BFSI) at Cognizant, Nageswar Cherukupalli, acknowledged Hyderabad's growing prominence, citing existing GCCs of several major banks.

The launch of the centre was attended by IT Minister of Telangana, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, who highlighted Hyderabad's commercial ecosystem, including the growth of retail space, passenger traffic through the airport, and commercial office space.
