T-SAFE: safeguarding journeys with proactive policing

Hyderabad's T-SAFE application, marking its first anniversary, has monitored over 35,000 rides and taken robust steps to ensure women and general travel safety.

This industry-first safety measure in India enables any citizen to initiate journey monitoring by the police from anywhere within the state. It tracks journeys in real-time, detecting deviations such as prolonged stoppages, route changes, or non-responsiveness to alerts.

If any anomalies are detected, an emergency response ticket is automatically generated and sent to Dial 100, ensuring swift police intervention even if the user is unable to seek help.

Now, building on its success, Telangana police is partnering with travel aggregators such as Ola, Uber, Rapido, Manayatri, Safegaadi AbhiBus, etc., to integrate T-SAFE. This will empower travellers with a seamless system that directly alerts the police in case of emergencies when travelling within Telangana jurisdiction.

With over 43,000 Android app downloads and 32,000 registered users, T-SAFE has monitored over 35,000 rides in urban and rural areas. Over the last year, 23,000 SOS alerts have been addressed, with an average police response time of just eight minutes.

AbhiBus, a prominent online platform, requested the Women Safety Wing to integrate T-SAFE into its platform and promote the T-SAFE service.

This milestone demonstrates Telangana's proactive policing, fostering a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
