Heavy rainfall and floods in Telangana have led to a work from advisory being issued by the state's government. The Hyderabad police urged citizens to avoid travelling to certain areas. Many areas of the city were submerged, with the rainfall exceeding December's average. This comes as India's Meteorology Department warned of more heavy rains for the next few days, especially in Telangana, Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Puducherry.

Several areas of Hyderabad were underwater, including the area around the US Consulate General, as well as Road No. 1 of the Banjara Hills. Other areas affected by the flooding include the Road Number 10 of Banjara Hills, NDMC Road No. 2, 3 and 5 of Jubilee Hills, and a part of Khairatabad.

Police have been responding to emergencies and have been deployed to areas that are prone to flooding to guide residents. They have also been clearing traffic from flooded areas and assisting with evacuations.

The heavy rains have been affecting the state for the last ten days and residents worry that the situation may get worse with the Meteorology Department's predictions.

Many have taken to social media to share pictures of the floods and to urge the government to act.

"The entire road fromardon road to jubilee hill is flooded with hardly any depth left for vehicles to pass through. A humongous tree also fell on power lines and is posing danger to citizens and commuters," one tweet read.

Another resident said: "This is crazy, no one is moving on the road. The authorities turn a blind eye every year without addressing the issue."

The state's Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, is expected to chair a high-level meeting today to take stock of the situation.
