Cybercrime Crackdown Recovers 4.4 Cr, 25 Arrested; Victims Reimbursed Further 3.7 Cr via Lok Adalat

HYDERABAD: recent cybercrime raids recovered over 4.4 crore rupees from 25 suspects linked to 453 fraud cases across 7 states. The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Unit, through these operations, seizes gadgets and assets whilst reimbursing victims of fraud and impersonation scams. During June, victims were collectively refunded a staggering 4.4 crore72.85 lakh, and an additional 3.67 crore was returned via a special National Lok Adalat on June 14.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 34 mobile phones, 20 cheque books, 17 debit cards, 16 bank passbooks, 8 SIM cards, and 1 lakh in cash. The accused hailed from different states, including a strong presence in Karnataka and Maharashtra. The variety of scams involved demonstrates the digital crime syndicates' interstate networks, exploiting simple trust through any platform.

Authorities recovered and returned funds promptly, underscoring effective policing through quick response and court-mediated mediation. Citizens are advised to avoid unverified investment offers on social media and WhatsApp and to verify official messages, report scams immediately, and never transfer funds on the basis of any Skype or video call. The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Unit is now tracing digital footprints to identify deeper networks and financial pathways.

Additional raids across implicated states are planned, with authorities ready to freeze suspicious bank accounts and press charges under the Bharatiya Nyya Sanhita and the IT Act. With sophisticated fraud on the rise, rapid action and public vigilance remain vital.
