The case was initiated after a fact-finding inquiry was conducted into irregularities in the NPS contributions. The inquiry found that the amount was allegedly embezzled by the former head constable, who had been dismissed from service with effect from July 6, 2023, in a separate case. The Central Bureau of Investigation will now conduct a detailed probe into the matter.

This alarming incident not only highlights the need for improved internal controls and auditing procedures within CISF but also raises concerns about the vulnerability of government funds and personnel pensions.
