Nagpur Takes Enforcement and Community Approach to Create Drug-Free Society

Nagpur City Police has launched a week-long public awareness campaign, "Anti-Drug Awareness Week," from June 20 to 26, 2025, in anticipation of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26. The campaign aligns with the global theme of investing in prevention and takes place as part of Nagpur's ongoing mission, "Operation Thunder," to create a drugs-free society. Residents of Nagpur are encouraged to get involved by participating in the scheduled events and reporting any suspicious drug-related activity in their neighborhoods.

The Anti-Drug Awareness Week aims to educate the public and enforce anti-drug initiatives. It includes outreach programs and collaboration between police stations, crime branches, and intelligence units to target drug abuse and trafficking.

Since the launch of "Operation Thunder" in March 2024, the police have been revisiting cases from 2020 to 2025 to update records and catch any outstanding offenders. They have made arrests and seizures and hope to soon provide a full report on the overall outcomes of the campaign.

The Nagpur Police Department is committed to making the city a safer and drug-free environment for all.
