Skeletal Remains Mystery in Hyderabad House Solved by Nokia Phone

The discovery of human skeletal remains in a locked house in Hyderabad's Nampally market area has been illuminated by the unlikely clue of an old Nokia phone, according to local authorities.

The house had been abandoned for over seven years, but the remains came to light when a young boy entered the building to retrieve a ball that had gone astray and discovered the skeleton, utensils, and a Nokia feature phone with a dead battery.

Police restored the phone and found 84 missed calls from 2015 logged on the device. They concluded that the person had died approximately ten years ago, pre-dating the demonetization of Indian currency in 2016, as evidenced by the discovery of deprecated currency notes stashed beneath a pillow.

The deceased man's younger brother, Shadab, identified shorts and a ring found on the remains as belonging to him. A CLUES team collected samples for further examination, and the remains were transported to a mortuary for expert identification.

The case shows that even rudimentary technology can go a long way in solving mysterious crimes when used in conjunction with other circumstantial evidence.
