U19 Star Ayush Mhatre Aspires To Bat At Lord's: 'Can't Wait For The Day...'

Indian cricketer, Ayush Mhatre, is eagerly looking forward to batting at Lord's after visiting the ground and celebrating his 18th birthday there. The India U19 skipper recently led his team on a tour of the iconic venue, and it left a strong impression on him and his teammates. The team's head coach, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, noted the players' awe and excitement as they walked through the famous arena.

"I would love to bat at the Lord's. I can't wait for the day when I would be playing there. It was exciting to walk through the Long Room and stand at the crease where the legends have batted," Mhatre told the BCCI website. The young player, who turned 18 on the day of the tour, added that he drew inspiration from the greats of the game who have played at the famous venue.

"It was a special feeling to be at the Lord's on my birthday. I have grown up dreaming of playing at these iconic venues. I have followed the path of the greats who have played here," he said. Lord's isn't the only iconic venue Mhatre has visited; he recently led his team on a tour of Dubai, where they will be playing the U19 World Cup in January.

The team had an impressive run in the ongoing Asia Cup, making it to the semi-finals, and Mhatre believes the team is getting better and better with each game. "The boys are gaining more experience from each game they play, and that will help us in the World Cup," he said.

Mhatre's focus, meanwhile, remains on continuing to lead his team with passion and determination. "As a captain, I am trying to lead by example and focus on contributing with the bat and keeping myself ready for any situation," he said. Lord's, here this talented young cricketer comes!
