ED Raids Ex-CM Baghel's Home, Son Implicated in Alleged Liquor Scam

Chhattisgarh's former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is in hot water with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) cracking down on his family over alleged corruption involving his son. The ED raid at Baghel's residence in Delhi on Saturday, comes just a little over a week after similar searches were conducted at the premises of his son, Chaitanya Baghel.

Sources indicate that this latest raid is likely linked to a liquor policy scam investigation involving Chaitanya. Back in March, the ED conducted raids at four locations in Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh belonging to the younger Baghel, with the agency alleging money laundering charges and suspicious transactions worth Rs 570 crore ($73 million).

The federal probe agency has not made any official comments regarding the specifics of the raid or the alleged scam, nor has Baghel Sr. or his son responded to the allegations.

This latest development is bound to spark debate amidst national concern over political corruption and the influence of powerful figures and their families.

As the investigation continues, only time will tell what consequences these allegations and raids will have for the Baghel family and if any meaningful change will be made to tackle such controversies in the future.
