Karbonn, a leading mobile phone manufacturer in India, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at the Sri Venkateshwara Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Hub in Tirupati, under the support of the Andhra Pradesh government. This new plant is part of Karbonn's expansion plans, with a total investment of Rs. 200 crore over multiple phases, and a production capacity of over one million mobile phones annually.
The Tirupati facility is Karbonn's fourth manufacturing unit, joining its existing plants in Bawal (Haryana) and Noida (Uttar Pradesh). The plant was officially inaugurated by Nara Lokesh, the Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, and Communication, Panchayati Raj, and Rural Development. After touring the facility, the Minister emphasized that this modern plant is a reflection of the Andhra Pradesh government's efforts to establish the state as a mobile manufacturing hub in India.
Sudhir Hasija, Chairman of Karbonn, expressed pride in the project, which is expected to create significant employment opportunities for the local community. The facility spans 100,000 square feet and is set to employ over 1,000 workers, providing livelihoods for both men and women in the region.
