A shocking incident has been reported from the Katihar district of Bihar, where a panchayat secretary was allegedly threatened and intimidated by a local MLA over an alleged recognition issue. The incident which occurred on Monday, 9th January has since set off a series of developments with multiple authorities involved.
The MLA, alleging that the village secretary had not recognised him at a vaccination camp, reportedly threatened to hit the secretary with his shoe. In a series of tweets, Katihar Deputy Commissioner, Amit Kumar, has informed that the incident has been taken very seriously and the secretary, as well as the MLA, have both recorded their statements. The police authorities are currently in the process of registering a case.
According to reports, the MLA, identified as Rajendra Singh, allegedly shouted and swore at the village secretary after the secretary failed to recognise him. Irked at being unnoticed, Singh who is the local MLA from the Kadwa assembly constituency which falls under the Katihar Lok Sabha seat, allegedly threatened to hit the village secretary with a shoe.
While the reason for the MLA's anger is yet to be confirmed, there is a lot that remains uncertain about this developing incident. One thing for certain though is that the consequences could be serious for all those involved.
