The Rajya Sabha was adjourned until noon Monday after opposition parties protested the rejection of their adjournment notices.

The notices intended to discuss various issues, including the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls in Bihar. The opposition also intended to debate the plight of Bengali migrants in India.

The Rajya Sabha TV camera caught Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary ordering the marshals to remove Congress MP Rajni Patila.

Patila, along with other opposition members, was protesting in the Well of the House, shouting slogans and displaying banners demanding the revocation of the government's decision to conduct the SIR.

The revising of the electoral rolls is a routinely done exercise to clean up the electoral lists. The opposition argues that the BJP-led government in Bihar engineered the exercise to benefit BJP candidates in the upcoming elections in Bihar.

The disturbance caused by the opposition members forced the chair to adjourn the house until noon. This has been a recurring trend in the Rajya Sabha proceedings in the last few days, as the opposition continues to create disruptions to protest against the government's decision.
