Bosch Acquires TSI Semiconductors to Boost Silicon Carbide Chip Production in the U.S.

Bosch Group has successfully acquired California-based chip manufacturer TSI Semiconductors, marking a strategic move to establish a U.S. manufacturing presence for silicon carbide chips, which are crucial for enhancing the longevity of electric vehicles (EVs). The deal, initially announced in April, involves Bosch purchasing key assets of TSI's chip production facilities and investing $1.5 billion to revamp the Roseville, California site for silicon carbide chip production. The new entity, Robert Bosch Semiconductor LLC, is set to begin operations in 2026. Although the purchase price was not disclosed, Bosch emphasized that the TSI facility will become a key part of its semiconductor production strategy, alongside its existing sites in Germany. Paul Thomas, the incoming president of Bosch Mobility for the Americas, highlighted that this expansion would strengthen Bosch's local presence in the U.S. and support its push for high-efficiency electronic solutions.
