Bosch Group has finalized the acquisition of California-based TSI Semiconductors, marking a significant step in its efforts to expand its semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, particularly for silicon carbide chips used in electric vehicles (EVs). In April, Bosch announced plans to acquire key assets of TSI's Roseville facility and invest $1.5 billion to retrofit the site for the production of these advanced chips. The new company, named Robert Bosch Semiconductor LLC, is expected to begin operations in 2026. This acquisition will complement Bosch's existing semiconductor operations, with the Roseville plant becoming the "third pillar" alongside its two existing sites in Germany. Paul Thomas, the incoming president of Bosch Mobility in the Americas, emphasized that the expansion of their semiconductor operations strengthens Bosch's local presence in a crucial market for high-efficiency electronic solutions. However, the purchase price for the deal was not disclosed.
